For me, the inequality is the one of the most serious
social issues that affects at our current society as much for Chile, as much in
the whole world.
I understand for inequality, the difference that exists
for access to the resources and services, and the difference in the quality of
these, although many times it is basic human rights for everybody. Also, I
think the inequality is when the people don't have the same opportunities or
the same behavior, which should be for every person, but in the reality society
it depends of our social and economical stratum.
I consider this problem is caused for the dominant economic
system in the world, which makes that everything have a commercial value, and
this prevails over the human's needs or over the value of life itself.
In Chile for example, if you don’t have money, you
can't access respect healthcare, because in the public healthcare setting you
have wait larges queues for medical attention, and much more for a surgery.
Also, is very difficult access to the medicine, because it is very expensive
and for the poor people is impossible pay for them. So, if you don’t have the
money, you don’t have more option that pass long time with the disease, or
worse, you can die waiting. For me, this situation is unworthy and embarrassing
in our society.
As well, the people have support ill treatment and
lack of opportunities for things such basic as health, potable water or education.
And as always, the most affected are the poor people, who have to pay the costs
of living in a society ruled by money.
Finally, the inequality generates a vicious circle that
doesn’t gives opportunities to the poorest to overcome their poverty and the
problem then remains for future generations.
